Advancements in Ink and Media Technology
Henry Wilhelm, Bill Atkinson
We’ve seen amazing changes over the past ten years regarding
digital output hardware, software, and media. Amazing
strides have been made in permanence, output speed, cost
of equipment, media flexibility, and color accuracy. There
are those who claim we are still in the early stages of this
revolution, and say that the best is yet to come. Ink and ink
delivery systems continue to evolve in a big way, and this
panel of experts is on top of it all. Let’s see what they claim
is heading our way over the coming years that will take this
revolution to the next stage.

Media Longevity and Retrieval
Henry Wilhelm, Others TBD
What are the issues and technologies that encompass
developing a strategy to collect, archive, access and preserve
the burgeoning amounts of digital content, especially
materials that are created only in digital formats, for current
and future generations? This panel of experts will discuss
what needs to be considered, and what strategies and tools
will give us the control and flexibility needed to handle this
explosion of data.

How the Web Was Won
Molly Holzschlag and Matthew Richmond
So what’s so good about the web? Matthew and Molly will
review the latest and greatest approaches being used by
today’s designers. They’ll show us how Flash initially emerged
to become one of the most useful design tools on the web, and
how standards-based design is fast becoming the solution of
choice to solve long-standing problems. By integrating these
techniques, designers, photographers, artists, and all media
professionals can get their work in front of thousands of eyes
quickly, intelligently, and with certain success.

But Where Do I Start?
Annette Wagner, Steve Broback
How do we make digital tools easier to learn for the novice
user? Do we really have to dumb them down, or can we
improve what we have? (Also known as: “why doesn’t anyone
read the manual?”)
