John McIntosh

The chair of the Computer Art Department at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, John has extensive experience in the digital imaging, visual effects and computer animation industries. He has served in leadership positions at the Center for Creative Imaging, the American Film Institute and the legendary visual effects company, Digital Domain.

A graduate of Whittier College and the School of Art at Yale University John has served on numerous advisory panels and has lectured extensively on trends in digital imaging, the integration of technology in fine art and the creative potential of advanced technologies particularly in the hands of a new generation of artists.

Before coming to the School of Visual Arts, John was a contributor to MacWEEK and RES magazines. John has been a featured speaker at MACWORLD, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), SIGGRAPH 2000 and other conferences worldwide. Most recently, John was the Chair of the Computer Animation Festival and Director of the Electronic Theater at SIGGRAPH 2002.
