Thomas Knoll

Thomas Knoll, along with his brother John, created Photoshop. While he was a graduate student at the University of Michigan working on his doctoral thesis in computer vision, Thomas and John began working on a program named “Display” that showed gray scale computer images on a black-and-white Macintosh screen. Over the years, the program developed into what was ultimately called Photoshop, and they negotiated a publishing agreement with Adobe in the spring of 1989. The rest is, as they say, history.
