Eric DoehneEric Doehne earned a degree in Geology at Haverford College in 1984 and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of California, Davis in 1994. His training has led him to research the deterioration mechanisms of inorganic materials. A research scientist at the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles since 1988, Eric has applied advanced imaging and analytical methods to the study and conservation of objects and monuments such as the first photograph, the Laetoli footprints, the Maya site of Copan, and the technology of ancient pigments. Eric Doehne has used Adobe Photoshop since 1991 to acquire digital images from his electron microscopes and recently taught a workshop on contemporary photography to scientists and conservators. He has pioneered digital time-lapse methods for the analysis of conservation problems and works to transfer technology to the field of art conservation. |
