Roger Black

Roger Black, now Chairman at DaniloBlack, finds success is a combination of effective design and technological clairvoyance.

One of the earliest adopters of Web publishing, Black made a successful transition from print to Web even as he expanded his 30-year reputation as a leading print and typography designer.

Black has created sites for the world’s largest companies, including American Express, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, HBO, and many others. Some of his trailblazing thinking about the Internet is reflected in his book, Web Sites that Work (Adobe Press/Macmillan 1996).

Over the last 10 years, Roger Black’s studio has also rebuilt some of the most prestigious magazines and newspapers in the world, including Newsweek, The National Enquirer, and The Baltimore Sun. He has redesigned such publications as Esquire, Premiere, The Straits Times (Singapore), Tages Anzeiger (Zurich), Svenska Dagbladet (Stockholm), The Toronto Star, and The New Republic.

Recipient of a distinguished alumnus award from the University of Chicago in 1997, Roger lives on Gramercy Park in Manhattan.
